She was presented with the DAISY award last month. Descha’ graduated in August 2016 in the BSN program and is a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria.
A WORD ABOUT THE DAISY AWARD: The DAISY Award was created for Extraordinary Nurses and the program was piloted at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, whose nurses cared for Patrick during the last weeks of his life. The goal was to ensure that nurses know how deserving they are of the society’s profound respect for the education, training, brainpower, and skill they put into their work, and especially for the caring with which they deliver their care. At the time the program started, it could not have been anticipated that The DAISY Award would come to be regarded as a strategic tool for nurse recruitment and retention and would be adopted by healthcare facilities all over the U.S. and beyond.
