AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA)

Northwestern State University (NSU) is committed to achieving full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Northwestern State University DOES NOT:

  • Deny the benefits of programs, services, and activities to qualified individuals with a disability on the basis of a disability.
  • Discriminate on the basis of disability in access to or provision of programs, services, activities or application for employment or employment to qualified individuals with disabilities.
  • Provide separate, unequal or different programs, services or activities, unless the separate or different programs are necessary to ensure that the benefits and services are equally effective.

NSU operates its programs so that, when viewed in their entirety, they are readily accessible to or usable by individuals with disabilities.

The University Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Committee is dedicated to aiding the entire University, including all satellite and branch campuses, its students, faculty, staff, and patrons/guests. Its focus encompasses outdoor issues, building maintenance, and all other types of “doorways” to provide equal access for persons with disabilities at NSU. It provides recommendations and support to the President and his cabinet; however, these recommendations and support are limited only to the scope of these two areas and are not part of the decision making process. The American Disabilities Act Committee is committed to its role in supporting all groups and facilities on campus, especially the Physical Plant. Furthermore, it fully supports equal educational opportunities for all students and is devoted to providing support to everyone seeking such educational opportunities at this University.
