Faculty, Staff and Students:
The university continues to monitor developments related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The health and well-being of our students, faculty, staff and campus visitors is paramount as NSU plans and prepares for all foreseeable contingencies of this rapidly evolving situation.
All upcoming international travel for faculty and students has been suspended effective immediately as we track the spread of the coronavirus. A site on the Northwestern State University homepage, https://www.nsula.edu/covid-19/, has been created to provide links, recommendations and details about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Updates will be posted on the website and in Messenger as new information becomes available.
Northwestern continues to follow guidelines issued by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Louisiana Department of Health, World Health Organization, and the American College Health Association. A committee comprised of a wide range of university personnel has established and is implementing a Pandemic-Infectious Disease Response Plan that provides guidelines for addressing COVID-19. Information in that plan is being included in regular updates on the website.
Companies that provide custodial services for the NSU and university residence halls have expanded efforts to continually clean, disinfect and sanitize buildings. Supplies of soap and hand sanitizers have been increased at our campuses, and frequently touched objects and surfaces are being frequently cleaned and disinfected.
We will continue to partner with local, state and federal public health departments to keep the campus community informed about the coronavirus and the measures individuals should take to stay healthy.
Please continue to monitor our NSU webpage, https://www.nsula.edu/covid-19/, that provides information about our NSU community and links to the websites of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Louisiana Department of Health and the American College Health Association.
