COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions

Health services has created a webpage at https://www.nsula.edu/health-services-provides-information-about-coronavirus/ with information specific to the virus, symptoms, prevention, and current risk levels.

The Office of the Governor also has relevant information related to the virus in Louisiana and how the state is responding:  https://gov.louisiana.gov/coronavirus/.

Updates on NSU’s response efforts will be posted on this webpage and https://www.nsula.edu/covid-19/. Updated information on the disease is also regularly posted on the CDC website as it becomes available.

What experts know about how the virus causing COVID-19 spreads is largely based on what’s known about similar coronaviruses. The virus is thought to be spread mainly from person to person, between people who are in close contact with one another – about six feet – through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

It may be possible for a person to get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own moth, nose or possibly eyes, though it is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.
