Natchitoches, Louisiana (Sept. 27, 2021)— The Current Sauce, Northwestern State University’s student news source, and KNWD-FM 91.7, NSU’s radio station, announce the launch of their unified digital platform, Purple Media Network. Purple Media Network hosts news, sports, entertainment and opinion content that previously appeared on the outlets’ separate websites.
“This marks an exciting change for student media that will strengthen the content we produce for our audience and give us a space for better overall collaboration and outreach,” said Brianna Corley, editor-in-chief of The Current Sauce.
“For me, The Purple Media Network is a lot about teamwork,” KNWD General Manager Colie Plaster said. “In the past, student media groups haven’t really interacted that much, but at the end of the day we all have the same goal, so there’s some area where it just makes sense to work together. As far as the website itself, we are working hard to make it the one-stop shop for news and entertainment relevant to students and the campus.”
