NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s School of Business will host a Continuing Legal Education event Friday, Nov. 19.
The CLE will offer a total of five speakers who have donated their time for this event. Attendees may earn up to five credit hours, including one for each of the following: Ethics, Law Office Management and/or Professionalism. Sessions will take place in Russell Hall on the NSU campus.
The cost of the entire event is $300. The cost for a single credit hour is $60. The event will begin with registration at 7:45 a.m., followed by a welcome and a one-hour session on legislative updates by Honorable Chief Judge Desiree Duhon Dyess from 8:05-9:05 a.m. A one-hour session on ethics will take place from 9:10-10:10 a.m. led by Russell Sylvester of Brittain and Sylvester Law Firm. A one-hour overview of Microsoft Word for attorneys will take place from 10:30-11:20 a.m. led by Mary Beth Fair, attorney and assistant professor in the School of Business. A one-hour session on workplace privacy law will be led by Honorable Magistrate Judge Joseph Perez Montes from 11:25 a.m.-12:25 p.m.
Lunch will be served from 12:25-1 p.m. followed by a one-hour session on professionalism led by Carmella Parker, attorney, professor and coordinator of outreach and special projects for the School of Business.

Funds raised for this event will benefit Northwestern State University’s School of Business Director’s Fund. This outreach effort was initiated to assist attorneys in the local and regional areas to obtain their CLE hours in various content areas without having to travel so far to get them.
