Students from Natchitoches Magnet School toured labs and facilities in Northwestern State University’s Department of Engineering Technology on Nov. 17 where they engaged in hands-on activities and participated in demonstrations. According to Magnet math teacher Cassidy Blanchard, “We have some serious future Demon engineers.”
Dr. Shahriar Hossain, a professor in Northwestern State University’s Department of Engineering Technology, demonstrated programming and operation of an industrial robot for students from Natchitoches Magnet School, who toured the department Nov 17. ET faculty explained engineering concepts while students toured labs and engaged with hand-on activities.
Dr. Jafar Al-Sharab, head of the Department of Engineering Technology at Northwestern State University, led students from Natchitoches Magnet School in operating a manufacturing line module during a tour of the Department Nov. 17. Students where given the change to operate lab and industry-based equipment under the supervision of the ET faculty. According to Magnet math teacher Cassidy Blanchard, “Students really enjoyed all of the hands-on experiences and even the lectures. They couldn’t take their eyes off of all of the equipment.”
