NATCHITOCHES – Assistant Professor of Biology JD Cox demonstrated capabilities associated with Northwestern State University’s new certification program in Remote Systems Science and Technology to NSU students Ebenezer Aggrey, one of NSU’s R.F. Lewis Scholars; SGA President Tja’h Edwards, Erykah Bell and Katelyn Watson during the University of Louisiana System’s Day at the Capitol in Baton Rouge April 4. The event showcased each of the UL System’s nine universities with a musical performance and an academic showcase. NSU RSST certification is an interdisciplinary program that was approved last year by the Board of Regents. ULS Day at the Capitol is an annual event that invites state legislators to meet with faculty, staff and students at each ULS school and learn about the students’ accomplishments, goals, priorities and needs. The event provides an avenue for each school to engage with state legislators about the important of investing in higher education and highlight how each school impacts their region and promotes economic development by promoting civic engagement and preparing career-ready graduates. Students from NSU’s Student Government Association, University Programming. Council and School of Creative and Performing Arts attended the event.
All nine university in the UL System were represented at ULS Day at the Capitol to meet with legislators about the importance of funding for higher education.
The NSU Saxophone Choir performed at ULS Day. Each university in the UL System showcased one musical ensemble.
