Why is teaching important to you? Through teaching future social workers, I can help my students prepare for successful careers in which they can make a difference in individual lives and improve our society.

Why do you believe you are an effective teacher? I truly like our students. Social Work students have purpose and passion for others and for the greater world. My philosophy is to meet the students where they are and develop their skills and intellect through multi-modal ways of learning in order to create a successful Social Worker who can change the world.

As a teacher, what brings you a feeling of accomplishment when working with students? I am excited when I see that moment that the students understand the new or difficult concept in class or read that moment in their writing. I love when they can have differing views and still be respectful.

Have the last 2-3 years made you a better teacher? The last few years have been challenging for educators and students. As a parent of teenagers and an educator of college students, I strive to be the teacher that I want for my own children. I use multiple ways of learning in order to make the classroom, virtually and face to face, a place of intellectual engagement and emotional safety.
