NATCHITOCHES — The 67th annual Miss Northwestern – Lady of the Bracelet Scholarship Contest will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. in the A.A. Fredericks Auditorium. The event is a preliminary to the Miss Louisiana Scholarship Contest.
There is no admission charge, but a $5 donation will be accepted to assist the new Miss Northwestern – Lady of the Bracelet with expenses required for the Miss Louisiana Contest.
Those participating in the contest are Jesse Foshee of Provencal, Nilah Pollard of Shreveport, Madison Bruce of Monroe, Lauren Vernon of Arcadia and Nicole Curry of Pineville.
Foshee is the daughter of Sophia Foshee Faro and the late Thomas Faro. A sophomore elementary education major, Foshee is a member of the Demon Dazzlers, a member of the Dance Organization of Students and the NSU Dance Company. She is also a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society, the Demon VIP program, a Presidential Ambassador and a Presidential Honors recipient. As a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Alpha Zeta, Foshee has held the communications and homecoming Lip-Sync position, committee member for formal, semi formal, recruitment and bid day. She has made the President’s List and Dean’s List.
Pollard is the daughter of Craig and Alyea Pollard and is a junior social work major. She is an alumna of the President’s Leadership Program and a member of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. She has served as both a Demon Mentor and Student Government Senator and was awarded the Senator of the Year Award in the spring 2024 semester.
Bruce is the daughter of Shawn and Kimberly Bruce. She is a junior secondary education and teaching major with a concentration in English. Bruce is a member of the Purple Jacket Honor Society and is event coordinator for LaBelleFemme. She is a member of the Educators Rising program and The National Society of Leadership and Success
Vernon is a junior biology pre-med major with a minor in dance. She is the daughter of Latisha and Lawrence Vernon. Vernon is a President’s List student and a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. She is a second-year member of the Purple Pizzazz Pom Line where she serves as co-captain Vernon is an alumnae and mentor in the President Leadership Program, a Demon Volunteer in Progress, a part of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry, a dancer in NSU Dance Company and served as a 2023-2024 freshman orientation leader.
Curry is the daughter of Elizabeth Rachal. She is a junior psychology student. Curry is in her second year as a resident assistant at University Columns. Curry is involved in the Psychology Club, Addiction Studies Club, and is an in-progress member of Psi Chi. She is a Demon Volunteer in Progress. Curry has been on the Dean’s List and Honor’s List.
