NATCHITOCHES – In continuing its tradition of honoring those who serve in the nation’s Armed Forces, Northwestern State University named Staff Sergeant Brandon Bullock the honorary captain during its football game on October 12.
Serving in the Louisiana Army National Guard, Bullock was a Military Police Team Leader and Motor Transport Operator before training as a Recruiting & Retention Non-commissioned Officer and cadre member for the Recruit Sustainment Program.
SSG Bullock has received the Distinguished Leadership Award and was recently selected Soldier of the Quarter. He is most proud of his accomplishments as a recruiter for Detachment 1, Company A, Recruiting and Retention Battalion, which covers northwest Louisiana. He has thus far had a hand in changing the lives of 21 recruits.
His military training includes Advanced Individual Training for Military Police and Motor Transport Operator, the Basic and Advanced Leaders Courses, and the Recruiting and Retention NCO Course.
SSG Bullock hails from Shreveport. Joining him to cheer on the Demons were friends Giselle Moore, Robreyon Bowman, Sierra Douglas and Gabriel Smith. He was escorted on-field by NSU’s President, James Genovese, and the Assistant Professor of Military Science Major Kegan Davis.
