NATCHITOCHES — The NSU Choirs will hold their Fall Choral Concert on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. A livestream of the concert will be available at nsula.edu/capa/capalivestream.
This performance will feature the Northwestern State University Chamber Choir, Lyrica and Orpheus. The Chamber Choir will be conducted by Director of Choral Activities Dr. Shane Thomas. Associate Director of Choral Activities Adam Philley will conduct Lyrica and Orpheus. With works centered around two iconic words from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s 1933 inaugural address freshly intertwined with the “spooky season,” the concert titled “Fear Itself” will interplay a wide variety of choral styles, genres and diversities tinged with elements that celebrate the frightful season.
Lyrica and Orpheus will sing works by celebrated composers like Narverud, Main, Childs, Englehardt, Whitacre and Pederson. They are joined by collaborative artists Dan Ley and Mario Gomez Orellana.
The Chamber Choir will sing works by Hyu-Won Woo, DiOrio, Cordaro, Pärt, Rautavaara, and Orban. They are joined by Dr. Oliver Molina on marimba.
