NATCHITOCHES — The Cammie G. Henry Research Center at Watson Library at Northwestern State University is sponsoring three exhibits this month. Each exhibit is on the third floor of Watson Library.

Two exhibits are about naturalist, conservationist, ethnographer and Louisiana writer Caroline Dormon. The third exhibit celebrates author and Louisiana native Truman Capote.

“Caroline Dormon: The Seasons of Her Life” is on display in the Research Center in Room 301 of Watson Library. Dorman was critical in the establishment of the Kisatchie National Forest and was the first woman to work in the Division of Forestry.  The exhibit is made up of pieces from the Caroline Dormon Collection at the Cammie G. Henry Research Center and will run until the end of the fall semester. The Research Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The 90th Anniversary of “Wild Flowers of Louisiana” by Dormon exhibit is on display in the third floor hall of Watson Library. Dormon’s landmark book was the first guide to Louisiana’s native flowers with her own flower studies as color plates. The exhibit is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. through October.

The Truman Capote Centennial exhibit celebrates Capote’s 100th birthday and is on display in the third floor hall of Watson Library. The exhibit is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. through October.
