NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University student media leaders representing The Current Sauce, Potpourri and Argus attended the Fall 2024 Associated College Press/College Media Association National College Media Convention in New Orleans.

The ACP/CMA’s 4-day conference is one of the nation’s largest gathering of collegiate journalists, media students and their advisers.

At the convention, NSU’s student-led yearbook, Potpourri, took honors in CMA’s Pinnacle awards. Potpourri earned Second place for best yearbook cover and third place for Yearbook of the Year.

Haley Wiggins, the editor-in-chief of the Potpourri, shared her excitement on earning this honor.

“CMA is a big deal and knowing that the Potpourri is capable of winning national awards is such an amazing accomplishment,” she said.

The Hispanic Student Journalist Association’s podcast ‘Latino Living’ earned third place for the Best Podcast category.

Latino Living advisor Nick Taylor said that he was proud of the team.

“The ‘Latino Living’ team works hard to produce a podcast that holds relevance to everyone, informing people of issues affecting the Hispanic community all while ensuring that each episode maintains the entertaining, humorous and fun tone Latino Living has become known for,” he said.

NSU’s student newspaper, The Current Sauce, was also recognized during the Liberty Awards, a competition hosted by CMA, the Society of Professional Journalists and Flytedesk to encourage student newspapers across the nation to circulate print editions on the election.
