NATCHITOCHES – The second meeting of the Math 4 Fun organization was a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Rubik’s cube, the popular 3-D math puzzle invented by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Erno Rubik in 1974.  Over 25 teachers from Bossier, Caddo, Natchitoches and Sabine parishes gathered at the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts Nov. 9 to learn about solving the Rubik’s cube in a hands-on session facilitated by Dr. Leigh Ann Myers, professor of mathematics at Northwestern State University, pictured. “Not all participants left being able to solve the cube, but all did leave with more knowledge about solving the cube,” said Dr. Judith Covington, also a professor of mathematics at NSU and director of Math 4 Fun. The next Math 4 Fun meeting will be on Saturday, January 25, 2025. For more information, contact Covington at  covingtonj@nsula.edu. There is no cost to attend the sessions and all K-12 teachers are welcome.
