The Division of Student Affairs is committed to the holistic development of students, providing programs and services that empower students to realize their educational goals and personal potential. This includes providing support services in academic support for first generation students, career & counseling development, disability accommodations, health and wellness initiatives, programs for new students, student activities and organizations, and opportunities in leadership and community engagement. Through hands on involvement in programs and services, Student Affairs promotes personal development in a student-centered environment, which delivers innovative practices in an environment of respect. Student Affairs encourages integrity, diversity, and collaboration with all members of the university community.

The Northwest District Literary Rally is one of the largest and oldest competitions for academically talented students. It has traditionally hosted many of Louisiana’s finest high schools and offers students the opportunity to compete individually and in teams in 49 different academic areas and vocal music and drama open events.

Each year, the Wellness Fest Committee hosts an on-campus wellness fair to help connect NSU faculty, staff, and students with health and wellness resources, partners, vendors and information. Typically, more than 50 organizations from campus and the local community attend to promote wellness opportunities for our campus community.
