NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s online Master of Science in Nursing and nurse practitioner program have been ranked as the best in Louisiana, according to registerednursing.org.  

Rankings were created based on data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, which is part of the U.S. Department of Education and nursing boards in all 50 states. Each program is evaluated based on factors including completion rates, affordability, institutional reputation, program diversity and faculty expertise.

Northwestern’s MSN program provides learning opportunities for registered nurses to build on baccalaureate nursing education and experiential professional knowledge, attitudes, and skills. The MSN program at NSU prepares registered nurses to function and excel in various advanced nursing roles.   

The MSN program offers several nurse practitioner pathways for registered nurses to advance their career toward independent ARPN practice. Graduates will be eligible to apply for national board certification examination and for other examinations deemed appropriate by certifying bodies. The clinical sequences offered at NSU will prepare advanced practice nurses to care for varying populations in both primary care and acute care settings.
