NATCHITOCHES – Women in Alpha Delta Kappa education sorority hosted a Christmas party that doubled as a drive for school supplies that will be donated to NSU’s Early Childhood Education program to support the department’s literacy initiative. Founded by Dr. Michelle Brunson, the initiative is to reroute the Cradle to Prison Pipeline to the Cradle to College Pipeline. The Department creates literacy bags and gives them throughout the year to local children in hopes of raising awareness for parents and foster a love of words and reading to young students. The early literacy bags include pencils, crayons, paper, scissors, glue sticks, books and activity sheets for parents and students. In front is Christy Hornsby.
