NATCHITOCHES – The Dear School of Creative and Performing Arts at Northwestern State University will present its annual Faculty Showcase on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m. There is no admission charge, and the public is invited to attend. A livestream will be available at nsula.edu/capa/capalivestream. 

The program will be “Fanfare for Bima” by Leonard Bernstein featuring the NSU Faculty Brass Quartet consisting of Galindo Rodriguez on trumpet Dr. Alexis Sczepanik on horn, Dr. Masahito Kuroda on euphonium and Dr. J. Mark Thompson on bass trombone, “Pastoral” by Arthur Bliss with Dr. Malena McLaren on clarinet and Dr. Chialing Hsieh on piano, “Ain’t It a Pretty Night” from “Susannah” by Carlisle Floyd with soprano Dr. Terrie Sanders and Dr. Francis Yang on piano, “Rondo” from “Andante & Hungarian Rondo” by Carl Maria v. Weber with Dr. Douglas Bakenhus on bassoon and Hsieh, “Gauntlet” by Joshua Burel with Leah Forsyth on oboe and Dr. Paul Forsyth on saxophone, “Last Letter Home” by Lee Hoiby featuring baritone Dr. Robert Cardwell, and Hsieh and “Doluri” (Georgian dance) by Aleksandre Matchavariani featuring Dr. Andrej Kurti on violin. 

The program also includes “Ev’ry Valley” from “Messiah” by G. F. Handel with tenor Dr. Shane Thomas, Jr. and Hsieh,” Another Cat: Kraken” for Brass Ensemble by Chris Hazell featuring Rodriguez, Dr. Adam Hudlow and Dr. Greg Handel on trumpet, Kuroda, Dr. John Dunn and Trevor Bailey on euphonium, Sczepanik and Thompson, “Bye Bye Bye” by Jacob Schulze, Andreas Carlsson and Kristian Lundin featuring Dr. Oliver Molina on drum set, Nhan Ho and NSU dancers, “Sachidao” by Sulkhan Tsintsadze with Sofiko Tchetchelashvili on viola and Hsieh, “Umoja” by Valerie Coleman featuring the NSU Faculty Woodwind Quintet consisting of Dr. Stephen Clark on flute, Leah Forsyth, McLaren, Bakenhus and Sczepanik and “The Song That Goes Like This” from “Spamalot” by John Du Prez and Eric Idle featuring soprano Dr. Marcy McKee, bass baritone Adam Philley and Hsieh.
