NSU Jazz Orchestra to present concert Sept. 19

NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State University Jazz Orchestra will present a concert on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. A live stream of the concert will be available at nsula.edu/capa/capalivestream. Associate Professor of Music Galindo Rodriguez will conduct the orchestra.

Scholarship honoring Dr. Marcus Jones will benefit first generation students

NATCHITOCHES – A scholarship honoring Dr. Marcus Jones has been established through the Northwestern State University Foundation to benefit first generation students.  Jones was NSU president from 2021-2024 before returning to the University of Louisiana System office earlier this year to serve as executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Line dance class to begin Sept. 17

NATCHITOCHES – A line dancing class will be offered by Northwestern State University’s Office of Electronic and Continuing Education starting Tuesday, Sept. 17. The class will be taught on Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. through Oct. 29 in Room 127 of the Health and Human Performance Building. The fee is $65.

NATCHITOCHES – Cammie Henry visited Northwestern State University’s Department of Veterinary Technology Sept. 4 to deliver a contribution and announce the Friends All United for Natchitoches Animals (FAUNA) Vet Tech Scholarship Fund. FAUNA is a Natchitoches-based animal advocacy and rescue group that has worked with NSU’s Vet Tech program for about 15 years.
