NATCHITOCHES – The Civitasolis Reed Quintet will present a guest artist recital at Northwestern State University on Saturday, April 9 at 5:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. Those attending are asked to wear a mask, but they are not required. A livestream will be available at capa.nsula.edu/livestream.
Established in 2017 at the Florida State University College of Music, the Civitasolis Reed Quintet is dedicated to engaging, interactive concert experiences. This unique ensemble consists of oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone and bassoon. The quintet takes pride in delivering engaging performances through creative programming and compelling stage presence. The diversity of timbre of each instrument is integral to the quintet, which presents music from a wide range of genres that is well informed by all periods of classical music as well as jazz, metal, Latin American music and other genres.
Civitasolis was named the first prize winner of the Senior Mixed Instrumental Division in the 2021 Coltman Chamber Music Competition and has performed recently at the 2021 Virtual ICA Clarinetfest and 2021Region Six North American Saxophone Alliance Conference.
Members of the quintet are Luis Gallo Quintero, oboe, Amy Humberd, clarinet, Beth King-Bennett, saxophone, Lewis Vaden, bass clarinet and Bridget Piccirilli, bassoon.
Gallo Quintero is a 2019 graduate of Northwestern State, where is received a Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering Technology.
