The Addiction Studies Club was developed for those interested in the field of Addiction Studies and for those who want to help promote education, awareness of addiction and emotional support.

Addiction can have many forms other than just being addicted to drugs and alcohol. Chances are you may know someone that has some form of addiction. Gambling, playing video games, and excessive shopping are just a few things people may get addicted to.

If you are interested in learning more, our membership is open to all students.

The International Honor Society in Psychology

The NSULA chapter of the International Honor Society in Psychology (Psi Chi) invites eligible students to apply for membership this fall 2021 semester. Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to graduate and undergraduate students, who are making the study of psychology or addiction studies one of their major interests, and who meet the minimum qualifications criteria. Requirements:

Undergraduate Students:

  • Be enrolled as a major or minor in a psychology program or addiction studies program.
  • Have completed at least 3 semesters or equivalent of the college course.
  • Have completed at least 9 semester hours (or equivalent) of psychology courses.
  • Have earned an overall GPA that is in the top 35% of their class in general scholarship (minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale).
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA in psychology courses.

Graduate Students:

  • Be enrolled in a psychology graduate program.
  • Have completed at least one full semester of graduate coursework.
  • Have an overall GPA of at least 3.0.

Applications: Please complete your application on  http://www.psichi.org/?page=JoinToday  by September 15th. After applying online, please email your name and student ID to Mrs. Deep deepn@nsula.edu. After approval process, you will receive an e-mail from Psi chi advisor about the online fees payment system. Fees is $55 and it is due October 3rd.

Induction: Induction ceremony and senior recognition will be held on October 12th at 4:30 pm in the President Room, NSU Student Union.

The NSU Psychology Club is a social organization made up primarily by psychology majors and minors. The Club, however, welcomes NSU students from all disciplines who have an interest in the psychological field. There are no academic requirements, just an enthusiasm for the study of the mind! The NSU Psych Club is an organization geared toward four ideals: charity, leadership, research and fun. Our objective is to be active not only in the classroom but on campus and within the community. Our passion for the study of behavior and the mind goes beyond just a simple reading assignment, but more toward application and practice. The club also gives students an opportunity to share research ideas, meet new friends, and participate in psychology events on campus. We welcome any students who are interested in research, goodwill, and, as always, having a good time.

“You only die on one day.  Every other day is about LIVING.”  So often the public assumes that hospice is about dying, when it actually is about living well.  Did you know that CHRISTUS Cabrini Hospice is the only faith based, not-for-profit Hospice in Alexandria? One of the integral services we provide is our Hospice Volunteer Program and we are always in need of volunteers, so we are looking for loving individuals interested in helping patients and their families at the end of life and those whom would enjoy clerical duties behind the scenes.
