Bachelor of Science in Accounting

Majoring in accounting prepares the student for entry into many different careers. The Bachelor of Science in Accounting program prepares diverse career paths by offering courses in financial and managerial accounting, cost accounting, tax, audit, and governmental accounting.

The accounting program offers curricula leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. We offer this program on-campus in Natchitoches as well as online. We also stream selected accounting classes to the Leesville/Fort Polk, Alexandria, and Marksville campuses each semester.

Globalization, a growing economy, and a complex tax and regulatory environment are expected to continue to lead to strong demand for accountants and auditors.

According to US News and World Report, accounting is number 3 in Best Business Jobs. Salaries could start around $50K. Some could make more than $200k+ within 10 years. Accounting deals with more than numbers: Just ask a CEO, CFO or a CPA. Other careers for accounting majors include: Budget analysts, a loan office, auditor, corporate accountant, economist, controller and even FBI agent.

  • Complete B.S. Accounting program online or on campus
  • Complete all subject matter needed for the Louisiana Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam. Please note that you may need to declare a double major or minor to get the required number of credit hours. An advisor can assist you if you are interested in the CPA exam.
