NATCHITOCHES – Dr. Greg Granger, professor of history at Northwestern State University, and NSU senior history major Brittany Charchio of Benton each presented research at the 51st annual meeting of the Louisiana Political Science Association held at the University of Louisiana at Monroe this past weekend.
Granger presented his paper, “Trixie’s Big Night: Harlem Hellfighters, Race in WWI-Era America, and the First Blues Singing Contest,” which was adapted from his upcoming publication in The Museum of Americana Magazine.
Charcio’s presentation was based on her research into “Italians in Louisiana,” which originated as research for her history research methods class under the instruction of Dr. Jeff Smith.
Granger was the 2022-2023 president of the LPSA after hosting the 50th Anniversary and Annual Meeting at Northwestern State in 2022. Dr. Jennifer Dumas of ULM is the association’s new president.
