NATCHITOCHES – The Association of Educators in Imaging and Radiologic Sciences honored Northwestern State University Professor of Radiologic Sciences and graduate coordinator for the School of Allied Health Dr. Laura Aaron by naming a lecture at the organization’s annual meeting in her honor. 

The Dr. Laura Aaron Honorary Research Presentation will feature the latest work of a top scholar or scholars in medical imaging and radiologic science education. 

“Dr. Laura Aaron has been a cornerstone of AEIRS, dedicating over a decade of her life to the role of journal editor, where her work and visionary leadership enriched our scholarly and peer-reviewed publications,” said Dr. Kevin Clark, president elect of AEIRS. “Beyond this significant contribution, Dr. Aaron has served on nearly every committee within AEIRS, demonstrating her commitment to our collective mission and values. Her exemplary service extended to her elevation to Fellow in 2018. We honor Dr. Aaron not only for her extensive service but also for her pioneering research, which has advanced the field of medical imaging and radiologic science education in countless ways. It stands as a testament to her legacy and the profound impact she has had on all of us.” 

The inaugural Dr. Laura Aaron Honorary Research Presentation will be delivered by Drs. Timmerie Cohen and Melanie Dempsey of Virginia Commonwealth University. 

“This is an incredible honor,” said Aaron. “It honestly has left me speechless. However, none of this has been a chore for me. It is easy to serve AEIRS and my profession because it is something that I love.” 

Aaron has been a full-time member of Northwestern State’s faculty since 2003. Within AEIRS, she has served several leadership roles including serving as chair and vice chair of the Fellows Committee, executive editor of “Radiologic Sciences and Education,” chairing the Bylaws Committee and serving on the Nominations, Educator Workforce Development and membership committees and the Imaging Curriculum Task Force.
