Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Leadership (503)

The nationally accredited Master’s in Education program for Educational Leadership (EDL) is a 100% fully-online program that is dedicated to developing school leaders who are caring, just, fair, and ethical–and who believe all students can learn. This 36-hour program may be completed in as few as 18 months.

For those already with a master’s degree, an alternate path add-on School Leader Level 1 certification (010 program code) is available. Although program prerequisites and EDL courses total a maximum of 30 hours, an applicant’s past graduate work and school/professional experience may reduce required hours to a minimum of 12 hours. Please, consult with the program coordinator for a transcript review.

Both programs require a valid teaching certificate and regular or conditional admission to NSU’s Graduate School.  A passing Praxis OR NTE score will be used in lieu of GRE scores for admission. Out-of-state applicants must show proof of an active teaching certificate. Successful completion of either program and passing the School Leader Licensure Assessment (SLLA) OR Louisiana Leadership Assessment Series (LLAS) through BloomBoard qualify graduates for a Louisiana Level one Administration License.

With this fully online program, students have the support of their major professor who is assigned to them during the first semester to advise on a plan of study and research agenda. Students can also join their professors during open office hours and other voluntarily scheduled times to receive program and/or exam preparation support.

Course offerings are subject to faculty availability and student enrollment. Always check with your major professor each semester prior to registration.
