Adobe Acrobat Fundamentals

Tuesday, February 4th, 10 – 11 am

PDF files are very common, and Adobe Acrobat is the program most commonly used to process these files. In this workshop, you will learn basic navigation, tools, and accessibility features within Adobe Acrobat.

 

Excel Fundamentals

Wednesday, February 5th, 2:00 – 3:30 pm

This workshop is an introduction to Excel components. Learn about creating and navigating worksheets, entering text, dates and numbers, selecting cells, entering formulas, and much more.

 

Webex Personal Room

Thursday, February 6th, 2 – 3 pm
Wednesday, February 19th, 2 – 3 pm

Your WebEx Personal Room is a valuable tool for engaging with online students. In this workshop, you will learn how to open and run your personal room either as a one-on-one meeting option as well as an open office for online classes. You will also be introduced to some unique features of the room that are different from the standard training sessions.

 

Flipgrid

Tuesday, February 11th, 10 – 11 am

Are you looking for a new tool to help engage your learners in class?  Flipgrid is an online discussion forum application, free to educators, that allows students to record video responses to discussion prompts.  These video discussions can be embedded within your Moodle class and offer an alternative to written discussion posts.  Join us as we demonstrate how to set up Grids and share them in Moodle course shells.  For more information about Flipgrid and to view a sample Grid, refer to the July 2018 Tech Toolbox.

 

Introduction to OneDrive

Wednesday, February 12th, 2 – 3 pm

OneDrive is the cloud storage that connects to your computer and your other office applications, allowing you to easily work on any file on any computer or tablet. You can share files quickly, and co-author files with others. In this workshop, you will see how to access your OneDrive, organize your files, and share files with others. You will see how OneDrive connects to your workflow in Word, PowerPoint and more!

 

Excel: Organizing Your Data

Thursday, February 13th, 2:00 – 3:30 pm

Have data in Excel that is overwhelming? Learn how to organize your data so it can be more manageable. Topics include: importing data from other Excel files and other file types such as CSV and TXT files, text to columns, removing duplication, sorting and custom sorting by multiple columns, filtering, creating subtotals, and copying/moving worksheets within and out of a workbook.

 

Sway: Innovative Presentations

Tuesday, February 18th, 10 – 11 am

Sway is an online presentation tool integrated into the Office 365 suite. You have seen this tool in action, used in newsletter form for the Tech Toolbox. Now learn how you can use Sway to create presentations, showcases, newsletters, and more!

 

Managing Your Gradebook:  Mid-Term Edition

Thursday, February 27th, 2 – 3 pm

We have reached the middle of the semester and you need your gradebook ready for your 10-week grades to be posted. Learn how to make sure your gradebook is calculating your 10-week grades correctly and be able to export a copy when your grades are finished.

 

Assessment & Measurement

Friday, February 28th, 9 – 10 am

In this workshop, which is part of the Master Course Creator series, we will discuss the importance of alignment between your objectives and your activities and assessments. We explain how to ensure alignment of assessments with course and module objectives.  To earn the badge for the workshop, you will complete an assignment that shows your ability to create effective assessments that demonstrate the skills that you are teaching.

 

 

To register for courses via WebEx:

  1. Go to nsula.webex.com and sign in.
  2. Click on the Webex Training menu item on the bottom left of the page.
  3. In the left-hand menu, beneath Attend a Session, click List of Sessions.
  4. Click the Upcoming tab to see a list of the sessions with the date and times, click Register next to the one you would like to attend.
  5. Complete the registration.

You will receive an email confirmation after you have registered with the link you will use to join the session. To cancel your registration, click the link at the bottom of the registration email.
