Our Values

Leadership

Fraternity and sorority members take pride in being among the most involved students at Northwestern State. Greeks are involved in countless clubs and organizations and can offer direction to new students looking to get involved. From student government to orientation leaders, and honor societies to Demon volunteers, you will find a Greek in almost every leadership role. Because each chapter is self-governing and relies on the special talents of its members for successful management, members have the opportunity to serve as officers, lead committees and initiate change.

Scholarship

Greek-lettered organizations were founded on principles of scholastic achievement and enhancement of academic opportunities for their members. This tradition holds true for members of the fraternity and sorority community today. Each chapter has a scholarship program to encourage high academic achievement and facilitate member successes in the classroom. Resources for members include educational seminars, study sessions, tutoring and mentoring programs, incentives, awards and recognition as well as access to scholarships. Greeks appear on the President’s List, Dean’s List, belong to honor societies, and graduate with honors.

Service

The Greek Community at Northwestern State has a long tradition of serving others. Greeks work together on projects that not only benefit local and national charitable organizations, but also foster personal growth and a greater sense of citizenship. The experience of hands-on volunteer work and charitable fundraising efforts provide members with the opportunity to make an impact on the campus and community. Northwestern State Greeks perform more than 9,000 hours of community service hours each year and provide substantial donations for local charities through chapter and inter-Greek projects.

Friendship

The most rewarding aspect of joining a Greek organization is the bond of brotherhood and sisterhood.  Membership in a fraternity or sorority will be a lifelong experience… an investment in your future.  Brotherhood and sisterhood is more than wearing Greek letters and attending chapter meetings.  It’s not about conformity…it’s about being yourself and being respected for your individuality.
