Panel discussion to take place in partnership with Northwestern State University of Louisiana
Natchitoches, La. – In celebration of Women’s History Month and in partnership with Northwestern State University, Hancock Whitney will host Northwestern: HERstory, a virtual panel discussion, on Thursday, March 31 from 4-5 p.m. To register for the event, click here.
Moderated by Tamara Wyre, senior vice president and director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Hancock Whitney, the hour-long discussion will feature Northwestern State University President Dr. Marcus Jones and panelists discussing the importance of women in higher education, corporate America and the influential women who have laid the foundation for women in the workforce.
“As a person who grew up with 13 sisters, I have had the privilege of being around smart, strong and incredible women who have done some amazing things,” said Jones. “Being a part of this event and being able to speak about how I have been able to work to uplift women in higher education and business is a true honor for me, as well as hearing the stories of our panelists who are also doing great things.”
The event will feature Jones, Alana Barnett-Woods, an alumna of Northwestern State University and the senior digital relationship banker at Hancock Whitney; Dr. April Giddens, an assistant professor of education at Northwestern State University, and Dr. Begoña Pérez-Mira, professor of computer information systems at Northwestern State University.
Randi Washington, the director of accessibility and disability support at Northwestern State, will also be a part of the panel, along with Northwestern State University student Mary-Scott Pourciau, a graduating senior and member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, and a host of other university organizations.
“I am so honored to be working with Dr. Jones and Northwestern State University to host this incredible event, highlighting the importance of uplifting women in spaces like higher education, business and more places where women should be,” said Wyre. “It’s imperative that we have these conversations, and I hope that this will be the start of more to come to ensure that women have their place at the table.”
The panelists will answer questions throughout the discussion, including taking questions from the audience through the Zoom chat feature.
