MISSION
The Department of Health & Human Performance’s academic programs provide a foundation for our students to leave Northwestern State University as innovative, contemporary leaders prepared for a variety of career opportunities in health, kinesiology, and sport. Our faculty provide a collaborative, supportive learning environment in which students discover, explore, and practice the knowledge, movement, and values that will help ensure a healthy, productive lifestyle and successful career.
Students are part of a program where they:
- work with practitioners in the field to gain professional experience
- conduct research to solve current problems related to health, kinesiology, and sport management
- apply knowledge in real-world situations

Guidroz Physical Therapy Scholarship
Qualifications:
- Major; Plan on attending Physical Therapy School
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Senior
Length of Scholarship: 1 semester (Spring)
Scholarship Amount: $250
Application Deadline: April 1, spring semester
Chris Roper Memorial Scholarship
Qualifications:
- Junior or Senior
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Health & Physical Education Major or Health & Exercise Science Major
Length of Scholarship: 1 Year
Scholarship Amount: $1,500 per semester ($3,000 per year)
Application Deadline: April 1, spring semester
Allen R. “Buddy” Bonnette Scholarship
Qualifications:
- Health & Physical Education Major
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Student seeking teacher certification and aspiring to be a coach
Length of Scholarship: 1 Year
Scholarship Amount: $500 per semester
Application Deadline: April 1, spring semester
- Must comply with all requirements set by the Graduate School as well as the HHP Department.
