NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s Department of Music recently hosted its annual Honors Wind Ensemble Music Camp. Director of Bands Dr. Anthony Pursell led the camp. Associate Professor of Trumpet Galindo Rodriguez was applied trumpet teacher with assistance from graduate students Josh Monaghan and Ted Scott. Each student took private lessons with Rodriguez, Monaghan and Scott. The weekly schedule included a daily masterclass on performance fundamentals and an ensemble class. The ensemble also performed two selections at a chamber music recital. Participants included Scott, who is from Benton, Riley Cleveland of Celina, Texas, Johany Marin of Gainsville, Texas, Trinity Adams of Atlanta, Texas, Thomas Lashley of West Monroe, Daniel Rivas of Houston, Terry Jackson of Benton, Nicholas Wiley of Lake Charles and Monaghan, who is from Lafayette.
