NATCHITOCHES – Over 150 aspiring educators from 10 high schools in northwest and central Louisiana attended seminars and competitions at the Educators Rising regional conference at Northwestern State University Feb. 12. Pictured above, NSU faculty Dr. Wendi O’Halloran, Dr. Amy Craig and Dr. Dylan Solice spoke with students about the rewards and benefits of a career in education. Educators Rising seeks to recruit and support the next generation of teachers, guiding them through high school and college and into their teaching careers. Students attending the regional conference learned about teacher preparation, the joys and realities of teaching, and the impact and opportunities that teaching can create. Founded as an institution to train teachers, Northwestern State’s School of Education offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree programs in education, alternate certification and add-on certification programs.
