The School of Business Homecoming Brunch brings together old friends, faculty and alumni.  During this reception, the college recognizes outstanding alumni, businesses and faculty achievements.

In recognition of their outstanding support to NSU and the College of Business, the College selects three businesses every even year to honor for their contributions.

Louie Bernard
“For the past twenty-four years, Mr. Bernard has served the citizens of Natchitoches Parish as Clerk of Court. In that role, Mr. Bernard sought NSU students to hire them in positions at the court. During this time, Mr. Bernard became a friend of the School by always volunteering his time for Future Business Leaders of America that is hosted here at NSU. Mr. Bernard diligently works with the collegiate sponsor of Phi Beta Lambda, the collegiate version of FBLA, to ensure that the students that come from all over the state have a wonderful time here at NSU. Additionally, Mr. Bernard recently ran for District 31 Senate seat and won. The six-parish district includes all or parts of Natchitoches, Sabine, Red River, Winn, Grant and Rapides Parishes. Bernard was also an administrator of the police jury. Bernard is a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches and a proud graduate of Northwestern State University. He has been married for the past forty-four years to Gayle Haworth Bernard. They have three children and four wonderful grandchildren. ”

Mr. Trey Hill
“Trey Hill is Vice President of Rates and Regulatory Affairs with Atmos Energy. His responsibilities include working with industry peers, elected officials, and governmental agencies to ensure compliance and in achieving successful regulatory outcomes. He has been involved in the governmental arena in Louisiana for over 20 years. ”

“He received his B.S. in Business Administration from Northwestern State University in 1985. Trey began his career with Atmos Energy and its predecessor companies upon graduation following a successful interview set up by the Career Planning and Placement Center. He has been with is Atmos Energy for career now spans over 340 years. DuringIn his career, he and his family havehas livedworked in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Pineville, and Lubbock, TXx.”

“Trey and his wife of 34 years, Jackie, have 3 grown children: Andrea (27), Brennan (25), and Rachael (22). He is currently a member of the Association of Louisiana Lobbyists and serves as a board member for the NSU Alumni Association and the Public Affairs Research Council. which is a non-partisan governmental policy research organization. He is a past board member and past president of both the LA Gas Association and Kiwanis, past board member of LA Association of Business and Industry and One Acadiana (regional chamber in Lafayette). He’s been engaged in various leadership roles for United Way, school organizations, and numerous other charitable, professional, and civic groups. ”
Trey is planning to retire from Atmos Energy at the end of the year and will remain engaged in many of his current activities while providing governmental consulting services to a small group of clients.

Adrian Howard
“Adrian Howard is originally from Tyler, Texas. Upon graduating from high school, he attended and graduated from Northwestern State University with a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Marketing.”

“After graduation, Adrian had several jobs in sales and marketing before joining State Farm Insurance company as a claim representative. After ten years in State Farm operations, Adrian felt it was time utilize the skills he had learned to open his own State Farm Insurance and Financial Services Agency. Adrian has owned his own company for the last 20 years.”

“Since the inception of his business, Adrian has received numerous honors and awards throughout his career with the highlight being the prestigious Presidents Club Award on three occasions and the Chairman’s Circle award.”

“Adrian is very active in his community. He is currently the fundraising chairperson for the Ft. YMCA. In addition, he is a member of the 100 Black Men of America organization that provides mentorship to young men. In addition, he serves on the foundation board at Northwestern State University and is a Life Member of the great Phi Beta Sigma fraternity incorporated.”

“Of all his accomplishments, the greatest is marrying his lovely wife Carol which is also a graduate of Northwestern State University and raising their two children in Brandon and Kennedy Howard.”

Adrian looks forward to continuing his community work to continue to impact lives.

Mr. Robert E. Turner
“Mr. Turner is an Assistant Professor in the College of Business. Previously, he served as Vice President for Business Affairs at McNeese State University and at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Mr. Turner’s broad experience includes teaching accounting and other business subjects at the high school and college levels. In addition, he co-authored an accounting textbook that has been adopted by multiple schools. He is a frequent speaker at educational conferences, seminars, and workshops around the country. Mr. Turner is an NSU School of Business graduate. ”

The Hall of Distinction was created to honor NSU business managers who have made a significant contribution to NSU and The College of Business. These outstanding managers are recognized every odd year for their outstanding support.
