NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University’s Department of Fine and Graphic Art and NSU’s Hospitality Management and Tourism program will partner to host a patron cocktail party to celebrate the annual “Hotter ‘N Hell” art exhibition. The patron cocktail party will be from 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7 in Orville Hanchey Gallery on NSU’s main campus.
“Chef John Carriere, Dr. Valerie Salter, HMT program coordinator, and HMT students will provide incendiary cocktails and fiery finger foods. Come on out for an evening that’s ‘Hotter ‘N Hell’ with sizzling food and drinks,’” said Professor of Art Phyllis Lear, coordinator of the show that opened in July and will run through Sept. 8.
The “Hotter ‘N Hell National Art Exhibition” encompasses all art forms that use fire and heat as part of the creative process, such as ceramics, glass-casting, welded sculpture, poured metals, metalsmith work and jewelry. Baton Rouge artist Michael W. Howes was the show’s juror.
Tickets to the patron party are $85 per person or $135 per couple. A limited number of tickets is available. Proceeds will be used to enrich the NSU student experience and fund scholarships.

The exhibit will officially close with a final reception for the artists and juror from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8. There is no charge to attend the Sept. 8 event.
