Moodle Basics

In this workshop, we will cover the breadth of available options within the LMS and demonstrate the basic tools needed for implementing a Moodle course.

Microsoft Office Mix
Tuesday, June 6th, 2 – 3 pm
Wednesday, June 21st, 2 – 3 pm
Would you like an easy (and free) tool to make your lecture presentations more engaging to your students?  Office Mix is a PowerPoint add-in that allows you to add video and interactive content, such as quiz questions or web sites, to any PowerPoint.  In this workshop, we will demonstrate the features of Office Mix.

Managing your Gradebook
Thursday, June 8th, 10 – 11:30 am
This workshop will cover the tools and techniques to maintain your Gradebook in Moodle 2.5 effectively.

Creating Quizzes in Moodle
Tuesday, June 13th, 10 – 11:30 am
This workshop will demonstrate how to create quizzes using the features within Moodle 2.5.

Measurable Objectives
Tuesday, June 13th, 2 – 3 pm
Clear learning objectives provide a foundation for a quality course. In this interactive workshop, you will revise or create measureable objectives that provide a roadmap for your activities and assessments.

Video Best Practices
Wednesday, June 14th, 2 – 3 pm
Tuesday, June 20th, 2 – 3 pm
This workshop will provide an introduction to creating video content for your courses, including best practices for getting started. We will also cover using VIC (Video Integrated Content) to connect these videos with your Moodle shells. VIC is a library that holds all of your videos in one easy-to-use place. If you want to enrich your classes with videos, this workshop is for you!

Moodle Troubleshooter’s Class
Thursday, June 15th, 10 – 11 am
Ever had a question about how to do something in Moodle but were afraid to ask? Can’t figure how to do something in Moodle? This workshop is here for you. This workshop is for people to bring in questions and curiosities about Moodle and have them answered with detail and demonstration. No outline, nothing planned. Just one hour for you to get those bothering Moodle questions answered.

Finding Online Resources
Tuesday, June 27th, 2 – 3 pm
The internet is an endless source of information that can be overwhelming. We will discuss how to find valuable quality resources for your courses. This workshop will be tailored to the needs of the attendees and their specific disciplines.

Sway
Wednesday, June 28th, 2 – 3 pm
Sway is an online interactive tool integrated into the Office 365 suite. You have seen this tool in action, used in newsletter form for the Tech Toolbox. Now learn how you can use Sway to create presentations, newsletters, and more for you students and courses!

To register for courses via WebEx:

  1. Go to nsula.webex.com
  2. Click on “Training Center”
  3. Click on the “Upcoming” tab
  4. You will see a list of the sessions with the date and times, click on “Register” next to the one you would like to attend
  5. Complete the registration

You will receive an email confirmation after you have registered with the link you will use to join the session. To cancel your registration, click the link at the bottom of the email.
