NATCHITOCHES – The NSU Opera Theater will perform “Amahl and the Night Visitors” by Gian Carlo Menotti on Oct. 15-16 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. Those attending are asked to follow university regulations and to wear a mask at all times in the building. A livestream will be available at capa.nsula.edu/livestream.

“Amahl and the Night Visitors” is an opera about the Three Wise Men on their journey to meet Jesus.  On this night, they stop at a house to rest and get warm.  The Wise Men find a poor widow and a little boy named Amahl who is known for telling tall tales.  He is disabled and walks with a crutch.  As the Kings are leaving, he offers to send his crutch in case Jesus is disabled.  Amahl is miraculously healed and all ends well.

The cast is Beth Olin of Thibodaux and Dara Pressley of Tioga as Amahl, Ella Castro of Caloocan City, Philippines, as the mother, Landry Allen of West Monroe and Douglas Flores of San Pedro Sula, Honduras, as Kaspar, Jayvian Bush of Lafayette as Melchior, Jordan Williams of Baton Rouge as Balthazar and Caleb Pearson of Pineville as the page.
