NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State University chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha (Pike) Fraternity is holding a philanthropy dinner to support one of their own and benefit the American Cancer Society. Pikes for a Cure, a dinner with live music and raffles, will take place from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 at Cane River Brewing Company, 108 Mill St., Natchitoches.
The event is being held in honor of NSU student Connar Zaldivar of Minden who was diagnosed in October with synovial sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that normally attacks the joints, but in Zaldivar’s case has attacked his lungs. Zaldivar is currently undergoing chemotherapy at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He is a sophomore at Northwestern State pursuing a degree in nursing and is a member of NSU Cheer, Presidential Ambassadors and Pi Kappa Alpha.
Tickets to the philanthropy dinner are $55. Raffle tickets are $5. Sponsorships are available and general donations welcome. For more information, visit https://pikes.crowdchange.co/11908.
