Hattie B. Cochran, mother of renowned attorney Johnnie Cochran Jr., created the first after-school programs, which she held in her home, for children in her neighborhood in the 1930s. Because of her efforts, the 1800 and 1900 blocks of Milam Street have been renamed Hattie B. Cochran Drive in her honor. |
