Martin Luther King Memorial
Dedicated in 1983 to the memory of Civil Rights leader and peacemaker, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the memorial sits at the traffic circle on Texas Street at the edge of Jackson Square. Although he never visited Natchitoches, Dr. King remains a revered figure for African Americans and all people dedicated to civil and social harmony.
They had [Civil Rights] marches. I know they come up Martin Luther King on to that circle on Texas. You seen that circle right there. They come there and have a program there; meeting, you know, and they go back.
