Burton’s Place
The Burton family owned at least two clubs for African Americans – Burton’s Place at 816 Amulet Street [pictured] and a ballfield and nightspot in east Natchitoches called Burton’s Playhouse [not pictured], where the Sensational Serenaders, a locally known music group, got their professional start.
