Alfred Llorens House
Built in the late nineteenth century, this house was the site of a community school in the early twentieth century.
Before my Daddy first bought that house from Sarah Metoyer in 1922,...they taught school there. My daddy went there and the teacher was Zorado Jones, Carroll Jones (Jr.'s) wife. She was the teacher over there. Papa said they would all go there for their lessons - she was a really good teacher...A lot of the children lived so far from there, they had to ride horses...Papa said that they had a place where they could tie their horses for the day, go in, and have their classes, then go on back home. So that's where he said he got his first education, there in that house.
