Walter Delphin House
The Walter Delphin House was built around 1900. A one-story frame plantation house with gabled roof, central chimney, and undercut gallery, it is the only house in the community with an outside stair which leads from the gallery to a sleeping loft. This home is owned by the family of the late Joseph "Shine" Delphin, who served for many years as a Justice of the Peace on the Island. It is a good example of the small plantation house common to the Cane River region.
