NATCHITOCHES – Miss Northwestern – Lady of the Bracelet Makenzie Scroggs was first runner-up at the past weekend’s Miss Louisiana Competition in Monroe. Former Miss Northwestern-Lady of the Bracelet and alumna Jourdan Waddell, Miss Belle of the Darbonne, was second runner-up.
Scroggs received a $5,000 scholarship as first runner-up and was also a Thursday red carpet preliminary winner with a $750 scholarship prize. Waddell, who won the Miss Northwestern-Lady of the Bracelet competition in 2018 and is a 2019 graduate of NSU, won a $4,000 scholarship as second runner-up.
This is the best showing by NSU representatives since 2000 and 2001 when three NSU students or alumnae finished in the top 10 at the Miss Louisiana Competition in the same year.
Gracie Reichman of Colfax, Miss Louisiana Watermelon Festival, won the title of Miss Louisiana.
Dr. Yonna Pasch, director of the Miss Northwestern – Lady of the Bracelet Competition, was honored by the Miss Louisiana Organization for her 20 years of service to the group.
