Natchitoches – Northwestern State University’s chapter of Phi Beta Delta will present this semester’s Language and Culture Series focusing on the Taiwan at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30 in the Varnado Hall Ballroom. Dr. Chialing Hsiehwill be guest lecturer offering insights into the language and culture of Taiwan. Hsieh is a pianist and associate professor of music at NSU.

The lecture will also be streamed via WebEx at the same time. Video recording will be available for registered attendees. Those who register online will receive the meeting link via email after registration.
The Phi Beta Delta Language and Culture Series supports funding for NSU students participating in international studies and expands all participants’ knowledge of diversified languages and cultures worldwide. Proceeds towards the Phi Beta Delta – NSU Eta Mu chapter scholarship fund. Phi Beta Delta is the honor society for international scholars.
Hsieh earned her bachelor’s degree from the National Taipei University of the Arts and M.M. and D.M.A. in piano performance at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. A sought-after collaborative pianist, she has performed with members of the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Lyric Opera Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, and the symphony orchestras of Detroit, Cleveland, St. Louis, Minnesota and Memphis as well as with the faculty of Julliard, Northwestern University, New England Conservatory, University of Cincinnati and Arizona State University.
