NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University will hold its Spring N-Side View Day Saturday, March 6. The event is designed to give prospective students and their parents an up close look at what Northwestern State has to offer.

All proper PPE (mask, face shield, etc.) are required while on campus at NSU and attending N-Side View Day. The majority of the event will be at outside locations to help with social distancing, but when inside, maximum building and room capacities will be adhered to. Please be patient if asked to wait for a session due to maximum capacity being reached.

Students are allowed to bring a maximum of two guests. When possible, please attempt to limit the guest count.

Those attending Spring N Side View Day are encouraged to tour the city of Natchitoches when the event is over and attend the football game against Nicholls at 6 p.m. in Turpin Stadium.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. on the Iberville Green with displays by campus organizations on hand. The welcome begins at 10 a.m. followed by the day’s events on campus.

N-Side View Day will be divided into various tracks for admitted seniors, non-admitted seniors, high school juniors and sophomores, those interested in an immersive esports experience, parents and students considering a major in the School of Creative and Performing Arts that will provide information for their specific needs. Lunch will be made available in either Iberville Dining Hall or Vic’s in the Friedman Student Union. The Jimmy D. Long Sr. Student Services Center will be open throughout the day to provide information on admissions and financial aid.

Admitted seniors will receive information on scholarships, financial aid, housing and Freshman Connection. They will attend a panel discussion with current NSU students, learn about academic programs and take part in a campus tour.

Non-admitted seniors will receive an overview of academic programs from Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Greg Handel and learn about the admissions process. They will have an opportunity to apply for admission to the university and talk with faculty and department heads about academic programs of interest. They can also take a campus tour.

High school juniors and sophomores will learn about personalities, majors and careers from Brittany McMinn of NSU’s Office of Counseling and Career Services. Participants in this track will be able to take a campus tour that will include housing and learn about academic programs at NSU.

Prospective students interested in an immersive esports experience will be able to tour NSU’s new facility on the first floor of the Friedman Student Union and try out for Northwestern’s esports team. They will also be able to take a campus tour and learn about available academic programs. 

Parents will learn about campus resources for students from Director of Recruiting Van Erikson and attend a panel discussion in which current NSU students can answer their questions. Participants in this track will be able to take a campus tour that will include housing and learn about academic programs at NSU.

Students considering a major in the School of Creative and Performing Arts will meet in the William Brent Band Hall. They will receive an overview of CAPA programs and will be able to audition for various ensembles. They will also be able to tour CAPA facilities, take a campus tour and learn about all available academic programs.

Those interested in NSU’s Presidential Leadership Program can learn about this opportunity from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. After that, they will be able to learn about NSU’s academic programs and take a campus tour.
