NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State University Wind Symphony will present its fall concert on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. A livestream of the concert will be available at nsula.edu/capa/capalivestream.

Wind Symphony Director and Conductor Anthony Pursell said the concert is a blend of patriotism, conflict and beauty. According to Pursell, the program demonstrates the resilience of the human spirit: a love for country – its people, and the opportunities bestowed to its citizens; a love for nature and the heart that all creatures share and the hard work necessary for us to continue to appreciate those things afforded to us.

“I am very fortunate to share the stage not only with these talented and hard-working students, but also my colleague and friend, Dr. Masahito Kuroda,” said Pursell. “His love for Northwestern and his students is unmatched and I admire the energy and musicianship he brings to the Wind Symphony and to CAPA.”

Northwestern President James Genovese will be a guest conductor.

“I am also honored to have President Genovese, the 21st president of Northwestern join on tonight’s concert,” said Pursell. “In the short time of his tenure as president, he has shown our students his appreciation for their efforts and how they represent our university. It is only fitting that we perform his favorite march, ‘The Stars and Stripes Forever,’ and allow him the opportunity to lead the Wind Symphony, much like he did as drum major during his high school days.”
